How do 0844 numbers differ from 0800 numbers?
The difference is the way in which calls to the numbers are charged. Industry Regulations set price bands chargeable by callers for each number range.
Difference in the package
Free phone numbers (0800/0808) provide the highest call volume but proportionally lower quality leads. They are more suited towards business to consumer scenarios.
While 0845 numbers are perfect for support services, such as technical support or after sales service lines.
Both of them are non-geographical number, that is, they are not fixed to one particular location and their dialing prefixes do not represent a particular geographical area. For example, a business number prefixed with 0207 indicates that this is come company located in London but one that starts with 0844 could be in London, Scotland or any where in the UK. They are commonly used for general business purposes and marketing campaigns.
0844 numbers are beneficial for revenue generating. Most of the 0845 number provider companies share revenue with there subscriber by sharing 1 penny per 5 pence. Similarly, if the numbers of minutes per call increases, the subscriber’s revenue share also increases. However, the revenue also varies with the vendor you select and also on the package. The greater the calls received on 0844 number, the greater the revenue company can generate. Whilst this is not the case if you have a 0800 number on you. In fact you will be required to pay for the calls you receive. In the end the decision is yours, you should know the nature of your business before deciding the right non-geographical number for your company.
